What is Infant Mental Health(IMH)?

Infant Mental Health refers to how well a child develops socially and emotionally from birth to 3 years of age. Positive development during this time impacts upon all areas of the child’s development from play, learning and education to social relationships and emotional and psychological wellbeing. It has implications for all stages of development through childhood, into adolescence and throughout adulthood.

Purpose of the survey

This questionnaire is for the sole use of the Tipperary Infant Mental Health Project to gather information about:
(1)    Services and resources available to infants, parents and their families in Co. Tipperary;
(2)     Prevalence of the use of Infant Mental Health approaches to working with children and parents;
(3)    Training needs of frontline workers in Infant Mental Health principles and practice approaches.

How the information gathered will be used

Information gathered will be confidential and will be analysed and collated into general themes and findings without specific reference to any one service or respondent.

How the findings of the survey will be shared

The survey findings will be outlined in the next issue of the Tipperary Infant Mental Health Newsletter and circulated to you.
